Cassandra and Aaron are a serious case of opposites attract. They are both highly independent, so they are often off doing their own thing. Then they come together to relax, make each other laugh, and spend time with their dog.
They didn’t have a formal proposal or engagement but decided to get married. Having both been to Maui multiple times separately, when a trip with Aaron’s family came up, they decided to “seize the opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful scenery… and escape the large affair with hundreds of people.”
The perfect scenery for Cassandra and Aaron was not a beach with toes in the sand. Instead, they opted for pre-wedding photos in Honolua Forest and an intimate wedding atop the cliffs at Ironwoods Beach. The spectacular settings were fitting for a wedding that took place on Earth Day.
Being a little untraditional, they stuck together while getting ready, arrived at both locations together, walked down to the ceremony hand in hand, and did their first dance to “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.
While the details were kept pretty simple, Cassandra’s oversized bouquet was a definite focal point. We loved how the blue in the flowers and ribbon tied together the color of her heels and Aaron’s blue suit. The matching asymmetric flower crown was the perfect final touch for this nature-loving bride’s look.
Photos were especially important to Cassandra, who understandably wanted the best images of their special day that complimented them and matched their style (which is always our goal). She claimed they were two introverts who normally shied away from the spotlight and was worried about being awkward in front of the camera (a pretty common concern). Turns out, they were naturals and did fantastic! Mariah did a few more serious, posed shots but the majority of the photos reflected their pure joy.
Mother Nature certainly shined that day. The natural light was just stunning, showing off brilliant greens in the forest, various shades of blue in the sky and ocean, and ending with a warm, glowing sunset.
